In music notation, Dots increases the duration of notes by half of its original value. This means that a note worth 1 beat becomes 1.5 beats or that a note worth 2 beats becomes 3 beats like the example below.
Dots are very commonly seen in music that is in 3/4 and 6/8. You will learn more about this in lessons to come. Also, make sure when playing C# to only cover the bottom hole if any. It's very easy to start covering other lower holes to help balance the whistle but this will affect tuning negatively so only cover the bottom hole if need be.
